Our story:
The story begins with a horrible personal event! Majid is an 18-year-old from Abu Ghosh, a town near Jerusalem. Majid began his career as a volunteer at Salametcom in 2023 as a member of the volunteer team at Hadassah Hospital. An unfortunate event in the current war cut Majid’s career in volunteering for his community and the sick and needy. Majid was killed by a missile that fell in his neighborhood. Within Salametcom’s corporate responsibility framework, the administrative and volunteer staff donated funds to award scholarships to five students who will begin their academic careers at universities at the beginning of the next academic year.
“After we shared this initiative with the family of the deceased, Majid’s brother, Ibrahim, donated NIS 10,000 to our organization so that we could offer training in providing first aid to support the Jerusalemite community in times of emergency and in areas where it is difficult for ambulances to reach when there are injured on the ground. Ibrahim wanted to help save the lives of injured people whose lives could be saved until ambulances arrived to prevent unfortunate events similar to what happened with his brother, Majid.”

Impact:
The project began with 40 trainees in Al-Tur town near Jerusalem. Within a few weeks, the training was expanded to two additional towns, Ras al A’mud and Silwan. Within four months, the number of beneficiaries exceeded 400. Salamtcom considers this project highly important, thus making it a first step toward building a sustainable and long-term project. The organization raised funds from other institutions to provide training to a wider audience. It also succeeded in building cooperatives with other organizations to contribute to the organization’s development and raise its standing in the community.
Salametcom only provides services to patients in hospitals. However, now that this project is underway, it aims to save the lives of wounded and sick people in the field through a broad network of young first responders trained as part of this strategic and sustainable project.
