The Sheikh Diab Tamra Community Center – an educational, sports, social, and cultural center.

Background story:

The Tamra Community Center established a network of young volunteers to support the population during war. The volunteers were divided into several categories: distributing food and beverages during emergencies, providing first aid, raising awareness among the population, and providing welfare for the elderly in times of emergency. Young people underwent training and guidance for preparedness in emergencies, especially during the current war.

The project’s beneficiaries are residents, families, and the elderly. The center cooperates with the Home Front Command, the Tamra Municipality, the Community Center Elderly Club, and the local authority’s security officer.

“It is our duty as a community Center to help the population, including providing the necessary equipment for the youth to work with the community. For example, the youth responsible for raising awareness patrol neighborhoods, visit residents’ homes, and distribute flyers explaining how to behave when missiles fall. They also check for safe areas in homes and instruct residents to which safe places they can evacuate when hearing sirens. In addition, they download the Home Front Command app to the residents’ phones and explain to them how to use it.”
